Description

"Valley at the head of the inlet" or "confined space for salmon and bears," and refers to a remote area in the Great Bear Rainforest known as Canada's first grizzly bear sanctuary, established in 1994. The word comes from the first nations coastal Tsimshian language. Khutzeymateen is located 45 km northeast of Prince Rupert.

Life for young grizzlies is dangerous as male grizzlies will kill young grizzlies to mate their mothers. Both mother and cubs must be constantly vigilant yo survive.
